INITIATIVES

This project requires a number of initiatives to be taken :

1. establish an international steering committee ensuring international liaison between the relevant nominated national/regional/local agencies in the area of library and information networking ;
2. the steering committee should define a memorandum of understanding which can be broadly accepted by all participants ;
3. the steering committee should propose for decision taking a planning structure and timing based on the work already initiated in G7 countries ;
4. it will look after the coherence of the digitized collections. The selection of actual documents to be compiled into databases will be left to each country’s choice ;
5. it will give statement on technological solutions to ensure systems interoperability ;
6. it will focus on coordination with other G7 initiatives.
