The Winners

The first artist to win the Grand Prix de Rome in History Painting was Pierre Monier or Meunier in 1663, with his painting of "Moses, overtaken by indignation at the sight of the Israelites worshipping the golden idol, breaks the Tables of Law". The last winner of the Grand Prix de Rome was Michel Niel Froment with his "Garden of Delights" in 1968, the last year that the contest was held. This exhibition offers, through the following two indices, a selection of the winning paintings from the 18th to the 20th Centuries.
